With smartphone sales showing signs of slowing down, Apple has focused more on services including iCloud cloud services, application stores and other businesses.
Service revenue accounted for 20% of Apple's $58.02 billion in the second quarter, up from 16% in the same period last year. App stores are the main driver of Apple's services business, contributing $37.1 billion to revenue last year.
Evercore analyst Amit Daryanani expects overall developer revenue to grow by 18% to about $9 billion in the third quarter of the App Store. Apple will report its earnings on July 30.
"We think service revenue in June could be a surprise, thanks to the dramatic acceleration of China-centric markets," analyst Amit Daryanani wrote in the report. According to Refinitiv data, the accuracy of Daryanani's prediction and analysis of apples was evaluated by three stars.
As of March, nearly 18% of Apple's total revenue came from Greater China.
But more than half of Apple's revenue still comes from sales of the iPhone.
Wall Street analysts expect consumers not to upgrade the iPhone until Apple releases its 5G smartphone in the second half of 2020.
Rosenblatt Securities downgraded Apple's rating from "neutral" to "sell" Monday, saying that "sales of new iPhones will be disappointing", leading to a "deterioration of fundamentals" in the next six to 12 months.
