White House National Economic Committee Director Kudrow said Tuesday that he believed the Federal Reserve would have room to cut interest rates at its meeting this month, reversing the December rate hike.
Kudrow said at an event on CNBC that he believed the Fed should aim to stabilize prices and the dollar, rather than focusing on employment data such as last Friday's U.S. employment report.
Kudrow said he supported the independence of the Federal Reserve, but the president and others had the right to express their views publicly.
Kudrow also said he wanted the dollar to be stable, strong and reliable. He doesn't think the U.S. budget deficit is a big problem.
