Analysts said that US President Trump's threatening to impose further tariffs on Chinese imports to the United States undermined investors'confidence in whether US inflation could meet the Fed's 2% target.
U.S. debt market indicators, which measure investors'inflation prospects, tumbled to a six-and-a-half-week low.
"They are disappointed. They don't think the Fed has strong support, "said Gennadiy Goldberg, senior interest rate strategist at TD Securities.

According to Tradeweb and Refinitiv, the difference in yield between 10-year inflation-protected bonds (TIPS) and 10-year bonds was 1.691% in late trading, down 8 basis points from Wednesday.
