As the deadline for brexit approaches, the result remains unresolved, and there are serious internal differences in Parliament. Members are still debating about when, how and even whether to leave.
The 800 year old Westminster Parliament staged another exit drama on Tuesday, with lawmakers giving Johnson his first major victory since taking office, passing the second reading vote on the exit agreement.
But just minutes after giving the date, they gave Johnson another slap in the face and vetoed a timetable for the house of Commons to quickly review and pass the legislation in three days.
In the second reading vote of the brexit agreement bill, members voted for it with 329 votes and 299 against it, which does not guarantee that the bill can be approved finally, because members who want to make changes to the bill can propose amendments.
Subsequently, with 322 votes against and 308 votes against the extremely urgent legislative timetable proposed by Johnson, the British government has repeatedly stressed that the timetable is necessary to achieve the goal of leaving Europe on October 31 promised by Johnson.
"I have to be disappointed that the house of Commons has voted again for an extension of brexit," Johnson told parliament.
